Sofia, 19 July 2007

Eco-activists gather together to protest against a Bulgarian law allowing property developers to build vacation condos in protected wilderness areas, and surprisingly to all of us, who has forgotten the old times of dictatorship, there were a few bloggers who were interrogated by the police and blamed to have possibly broke the law by announcing unauthorized civil protests.

Meanwhile, Bulgarian parliament approved the desired changes in environmental legislation to protect wilderness areas, national parks, and historical heritage, a day after the European Commission warned Bulgaria of taking "insufficient measures" to preserve wildlife habitats and wilderness zones.
